When looking at French Illustrator and Graphic Design artist Nicholas Oberey’s work, its black and white contrast gets embedded in a ghostly flash in the back of your mind, imprinted and reflected in a haunting composition that will follow you for at least a few seconds after exposing yourself to it. It doesn’t help that most of the elements used are iconic representations of spiritual and ritual in nature. Skulls, gas masks, insects, and textured style that can´t be denied it´s ethereal qualities and it’s haunting and ghostly motif. Nicola’s Oberey’s work is hardly limited to these strangely captivating illustrations that resemble ghost’s and death in a multilayered collage of faces and animals, but, being so close to Halloween, it’s only fitting that we pay tribute to these aspects of his work.
